In this case not as compatible as the 8800 GT.

Well, can you be a bit more specific than that, like, mention specific games that don't work on it? And ideally some that are actually from the winXP era, and not like some ancient win95 game that is better off being played on a win9x pc with a voodoo2 or whatever

Of course you need separate builds with a GTX 960. In this case though the goal was something comparable to an 8800 GT that runs in XP.
I'm not sure if "low profile" as the OP stated back then means being half-height.
In that case, one can look at entry-level workstation cards (Quadro/FirePro) of relevant generations, usually Kepler or earlier for Quadro, and Northern Islands or earlier for FirePro.
The prices for those older workstation cards may have gone down to levels comparable to consumer counterparts after this many years, so they may be worth considering.
The lower end models are half-height and can switch to a half-height bracket if needed, and they often come with more video memory.
A downside, however, is that those cards usually use DisplayPort or Mini-DisplayPort so adapters will be needed if the monitor doesn't support such.

It never matters how old the post is - it only matters that the content continues the existing topic of discussion. I eventually found the youtube video showing performance of various SFF cards for XP and I figured anyone who finds this thread would also be interested in the performance comparison. There's nothing wrong with linking more relevant information.
I've been looking around for an SFF GPU to put in a Compaq 6005 Pro that I received. Right now it has a GTX1650 which is fine with Win10, but I was thinking to dual-boot it to WinXP. I think right now the best SFF GPU for me is trying to find a single-slot 4G GTX750Ti, though I would accept a single-slot 4G GTX750 also.

Well, yes and no. It depends on situation or point of view, I guess.
Whether or not it still helps the original poster solving a problem or if the original poster had created the thread in order to help others.
After 6 years of inactivity, it might be plausible that the original poster has moved on to other projects.
After that time, the original poster perhaps don't even like to be reminded of old projects.
In that case, reviving the thread would be like trying to take ownership of it (a bit exaggerated).
Again, depends on situation or point of view, I guess. 🤷♂️
There's are pros/cons for either point of view, I guess.
I'm merely writing these lines because I have read "it never matters". ;)
Edit: What I wrote is merely meant as a general statement and not specific to this thread here, it's no criticism.
