The cpu or ram type has nothing to whether or not it will take a cdrom. Model number would be helpful. I mean even my 286s from 1990 onboard IDE controller supports one though there is no room in the case for so I had to go with parallel port option. But as mentioned above you have options. Personally I'd go with the sound card with IDE connector/s as you only have two ISA slots.
