V4 ROM will only work with "GS4" CPU (found on SCC-1A), it will not work with one that has "GSS2" (SCC-1) written on it, nor will V2 or V3 work with GS4. CPU will appear to do nothing when things are interchanged the wrong way.

I also have a faulty SCC-1. Currently I use it as an MPU-401 for my MT-32 and SC 88 Pro. I hope you find the answer and I can see if mine has the same issue.
