Unfortunately in context of a Game Gear it won't be usable through the tuner itself, some other device will have to do the equivalent of how the tuner drives the LCD in TV mode. The CVBS signal the tuner ultimately works on is not able to pass enough info for this type of a stunt.

FPGA or cheaper modern voodoo replacement for era accurate computer builds (IE, not time machines) would be amazing.

Also a replacement battery PCB of some sort for the powerbook 150. I started work on this actually, but I think I lost the gerber files when I moved to linux. (I need to snoop around my computer to see tbh) The main issue was the voltage the PB150 uses for it's battery, a 2.4v rechargable. To make matters worse there is basically no space inside the PB150 for put most battery holders and it got quite over complicated for how inexperienced/unlearned I am in pcb and electronics design. Some kind of PCB+ battery holder that could fit the space and allow for easier battery changes and non-leaky batteries would be very nice.

a 3dfx Voodoo can be accurately emulated in x86box so I'd guess with a proper bridge interface an FPGA version of it should not be too difficult, possibly even with digital output. Why it does not exist is beyond me..

OpenPIC super7 motherboard to accomodate dual K6-III+ system.

This would be big.

New Mister cores are dropping every single day with accusations that some are written by Ai. I'm just as surprised Voodoo hasn't been replicated.

An silly idea: A functional clone of the first Connectix QuickCam (PC version, Centronics).
Maybe by using a Raspbery Pi and its official camera module.
Purpose: To be able to use it for vintage internet software.
It's the only camera supported by GEOS, for example.

For making Windows 98 usable on much newer hardware than it was ever designed for, here's the major drivers that are still missing:

- A proper fix for the "Crazy Mouse" bug when using legacy USB mouse support on certain BIOSes. This seems to be caused by vmouse.vxd or msmouse.vxd losing framing when reading from the emulated PS/2 IO port, and can be worked around by using a Windows 3.1 16-bit mouse driver though this still causes other issues like mousewheel and mouse in DOS not to work.

- Support for newer wireless network adapters supporting WPA2. SDZ recently backported a NDIS network driver for Intel gigabit controllers from ReactOS so maybe this is a place to look.

- Better 3d graphics support then is available through VESA and SoftGPU. There are a couple of ways to approach this and JHRobotics seems to be working on one part already by creating a library to allow Mesa to use multiple CPU cores for rendering. It might also be possible to backport a legacy version of Mesa's OpenGL driversto be able to GPU accelerate the rendering on much nerwer hardware though this would be a massive amount of work.

- ACPI power management support on newer machines. This would be very complicated, and there is probably no way to support the IOAPIC or Message Signaled Interrupts because of how the system architecture is.

The Raspberry 5 has internal PICe interface which makes mounting it on a PCI card pretty simple in theory as I understand it. From then on it's just emulating the Voodoo in software and interfacing with the PCI bus.. Like.. It sounds like it should be simple and effective. I don't know, but I challenge @polpo to do it 🤣

^For Windows 3D support, the NEC PowerVR PCX also was a gooid choice, maybe.
Unlike a 3dfx card, it needed no VGA passthrough/loop cable.
The whole communication happened via PCI bus, any 2D could be used.
Even those with proprietary video interface (all in one PCs etc).
I wonder if an FPGA version of such a 3D accelerator would be possible.
No RAMDAC would be involved, making it a purely digital circuit.

There already had been *TWO* fpga ports of PCem's 3dfx emulation (without attribution) and at least one was definitely vibed, and BOTH didn't use the cards as reference as they didn't even own a Voodoo card and still claimed to be accurate to the hardware. As the FPGA scene has become a hotbed of slop (Like web-facing emscripten ports of anything, FPGA slapdash jobs = clout), it's all monkey's paw wishes at best, pounding sand for the most dishonest jokes of self-proclaimed full stack DevOps to fulfill your Retro Goodness Wish(tm) with you with the help of book-shredding plagiarism chatbots outputting legally toxic bile aberrations of other people's code as their own...

Anyway what hasn't been done is NukedYKT decapping/writing graphics card emulation... one of the few programmers I have faith left in this increasingly slopindundated hobby.

FUCK "AI". It is a tool of fascism. We do not need it. We do not use it.

The FPGA community has gone to genuine shit after AI slop (vibe coding it is now called I thiink? some such bs..) basically wrecked it, but I still hope something good can still be done by someone with actual genuine passion and time.. Call me naive 😁
