Hey everybody. First post here on Vogons after deactivating eternal lurker mode. Thought I'd share one of my many vintage laptops, and my main DOS gaming rig, my Toshiba Satellite Pro T2150CDT:

Specs:
CPU: Intel 486 DX4-75
RAM: 16 MB
Video: C&T 65545, 1 MB (VESA)
Sound: ESS AudioDrive 688 with genuine OPL3 (the hardware manual I have for this mentions that this is SB Pro compatible)
520MB IBM HDD
and a 2X internal CD-ROM drive.

Currently running Windows 95, but I eventually plan on putting Windows 3.1/DOS 6.2 on this once I get an external floppy drive. Also, this has some very noticeable cosmetic blemishes, namely some cracks near the hinges which explains the tape. No amount of cracks are going to stop this thing from keeping on ticking, though. Games-wise, I can play pretty much everything up to Duke Nukem 3D (in 320x200) on this. It's also great for older DOS games since it has options in the BIOS to slow down the CPU speed and turn off the internal cache. I'd also kinda like to get the main Ni-MH battery rebuilt at some point, so I can have DOS gaming fun on the go. 😀

Very nice Aptiva! This brings back memories! I remember the machine my uncle had was the same design. First PC I surfed the web on in 1995. I went to MacGuyver's Unofficial HomePage, listened to the theme in MIDI form and wrote in his Guestbook.

Here's my custom K6-2 system that I built recently:

Video: Currently an ATI Rage 128 Ultra with 16 MB; I would like to get my TNT2 Ultra working properly so I can use it with this rig.
Sound: Right now I have some random Crystal-based sound card in there as a placeholder. I'd like to get a Sound Blaster Live like the one I used to have back in the day.

Looking to make a period-correct build out of this slot A Athlon 700MHz, MSI MS-6191 mobo with onboard Creative AudioPCI, and 256 MB PC100 RAM. The PCI card currently installed is an ethernet card. Thinking about getting a GeForce 2 GTS or similar for this.

sutekh94:I love the k6 rig, needs a little bit of cable management and some refinement but that will be a sweet system! Also the Slot A system would be awesome in a little MATX case, with space being at a premium Iv grown to love small rigs x) not to mention itd make a great retro-lanbox!

Thanks, ODwilly! Cable management isn't really that high priority right now; maybe I'll do something about it once I get all the parts I need to make it finished. And yes, I do plan on getting a mATX case for the slot A system.

It was a DEER case heavily scratched over the years. I had to do something to it 🤣, so I repainted it last summer.
And I had alot of yellow paint.

I actually kinda like the paintjob you gave that case. Kinda reminds me of Bumblebee from Transformers. 🤣

Deer cases were super common 🤣
I have had 4-5 different versions of this same case through the years, some have different front bezels but thats it.
They were cheap OK built, and support AT boards along with ATX. They also came with Deer (Now ALLIED) power supplies that like to go out with a bang catching on fire in the process 😵 .
Don't use the power supply in these cases if you ever come across a New old stock one 😲 !

Wow, thanks for the tip. I probably wouldn't have grabbed one of these cases anyhow because I don't like the ergonomic curvy look but it's still a good thing to keep in mind.

Maybe I might compliment my Retro laptop with a retro desktop one day.

EDIT: if you ever see an ASUS/Elan Vital T-10AB, that thing was years a head of it's time. The same might be true for the T-5AB. the T-10AB says on the inside it supports mATX, ATX, eATX and AT. Also by extension ITX. also it may have said something about baby AT.

My LEO Databook. Made by FIC. Property of Balkanbank, Bulgaria - came with original hard drive (256MB WD), data intact.
AMD 80486DX2-66
24MB FPDRAM
Cirrus Logic 1MB VGA - appears to be using PCI - onboard
UK0022 (NE2000 Compatible) onboard with Boot ROM socket
4GB IBM Deskstar Hard Drive (New addition, was using a Quantum FireBall 1GB which failed)
Small 1.44M Floppy Drive (Recently fixed)
APM and a few other tricks.
SoundBlaster 2.0 using it's single ISA riser.
It runs DOS 7.1 now with WFW 3.11
