Got this from ebay today

Now I can fill my PCI motherboard.

Do you have a fpu for that ? More pics ?

The nx587 never really got a general release. It would have required another motherboard design because neither the existing VL-Bus nor the PCI motherboards had a socket for it.

And this model does not have the FPU built in. The ones with the FPU are black and are labeled 'PF' instead of just 'P' so the FPU version would be PF-100 and the one without would be P-100. These also came in P-75,P-80,P-90, P-120, and P-133 versions. The 80 and 90 seem to be the most common. The 120 and 133 must be really rare, though, because I have only ever seen 1 P-120 and have yet to see a P-133 for sale. That guy in China still has his PF-100 for sale on ebay, but there is no way in hell he gets $850 for it unless he sells it to a Saudi prince.

Oh, and the K6 was mostly based on the unreleased nx686, that had a 387 based FPU built in. That is the reason why the floating point performance on the K6 is so awful, the FPU is not much more than a supercharged version of a 387 like the nx586 is basically a supercharged 386. Nexgens' designs were all based on 386 technology taken to the extreme. That's why you have to patch Windows 9x to recognize it otherwise the installer thinks it's looking at a 386 and won't run.

PCI motherboard with P100 installed. The PCI motherboard came from France. Prices for the both the motherboard and CPU were in line with trends.

negenpci_zpse1362761.jpg

VL-Bus motherboard with P90 installed. I have two of these from the same ebay seller. I actually got these with motherboard, CPU, and RAM for about half what the CPU's alone sell for.

The chip with the fan is the nx586, the one in the middle is the motherboard logic.

My phone is crap and can't tether so I have to email the pics to myself, but it's actually easier to do it that way. It's 480 x 640 resolution (VGA sideways!), anyway, but if I use a higher resolution camera that means an even bigger image and then you'll have to scroll sideways to view it.

Got some new stuff in. These are the cards I nabbed earlier. They' re a little rough, going to clean them up/replace the thermal paste on all of them.

The 9700 Pro is missing a fan blade, will probably ghetto something together to replace it. The Zalman heatsink on the 9800 Pro is missing a screw and the support bars across the top, that'll be fixed at some point.

Gainward GeForce 6800 "GS" 128MB - Someone must have had a dead Gainward 6800GT and swapped out the coolers, pretty sure this is not standard for the GS.

Nothing special for most folks but got a few things at a yard sale. A oem copy of win95 with usb support and a copy of ms dos 5.0 on 5 1/4 floppies for leading edge computers. The rest was some old books that I picked out that was mostly 19th century with the oldest from the 1820s.

On a far away planet reading your posts in the year 10,191.

Advanced Gravis Analog Pro Joystick - 4 buttons + throttle. I had a normal Gravis Joystick but the lack of a trigger was a pain. Always thought these looked cooler than the MS Sidewinders of the day.

Got a SC-88 recently, €100 ($130) 🙄 a bit overpaid perhaps but I've seen 55MkIIs go for higher prices lately so whatever...

Anything with the Roland name on it is going to be one of those things where you just have to grit your teeth and pay the price. The competition for those parts is too fierce to be cheap. There is an SCC-1 on ebay right now with a $230 BIN and I'm sure someone will buy it before it ends.

Nice. I'm actually searching for something similar in rarity, if not more rare, a pair of Slot-2 Slotkets for Tualatins.

Slot-2 Tualatin slocket? Wow, I had no idea something like that existed.
I'm sure it would be useless in my HP though.. from what I've read it's latest BIOS won't even properly handle Coppermines. I guess DIY brands like Asus are easier to deal with.

I've been looking ages for a Socket 8/ -> slot 1 adapter. Yep, I'd like to run the PPro on an AGP board 😜

@scylla not to burst your bubble. But it wont work. I've tried. Long story short, pentium pro chips only work on pre-agp chipsets.

It is a mistake to think you can solve any major problems just with potatoes.

I have an Intel MS440GX board that would do good with a pair of Tuallies, even if they only ran at 1Ghz. Not sure it'd actually boot with them though, but if I ever got my hands on these, I figure why not try it?

What kind of HP rig do you have?
