Word is those nForce boards work with Registered DDR RAM (PC-3200P). You might want want to pick up two 4gb sticks for pennies on the dollar and give it a shot (Just remember to enable memory re-mapping to see more than 4gb - this is the case with the Asus A8N IIRC).

Why do you think I was sort of excited to find it? 😉 Except I'm planning to use XP-32 with it most likely, so.. probably just looking at 4GB total.

I just picked up a Packard Bell Platinum 55 for $10. I had recently bought the monitor with speakers for $5 and the keyboard and mouse for around $10, so $25 isn't bad for a complete Packard Bell. It has a 200Mhz processor, two 2GB HDs, 48MB of ram and a Sound Galaxy sound card.

I had that same oem x-fi card in my main PC for awhile, gave up on it, due to clicking sounds being inserted into just about anything played over it, issues with the drivers in windows Vista and 8, worked fine in XP, but that PC rarely boots into XP.

As for I/O plates I just make them outa malleable Plastic, usually cut from Ice cream buckets, and paint them whatever color, and attach them either with glue or nuts\bolts if the case has convenient holes to mount with. Usually ends up looking nice, and easy to cut every hole needed, with no sharp edges.
Cheap and easy solution that comes with a treat 🤣 .

🤣...yeah I heard that these xfi cards can be troublesome but I only plan to use it on xp anyways. I have a retail pci e Creative card for my win 7 setup.

I love the idea of using plastic from buckets or whatever works. I tried using acrylic once and it worked pretty good. Easy to cut with olfa knife so it is easy to work with but I like your idea about the malleable plastic. ..I think it would be easier and cheaper.

I looked and it's a 670, that's the card that works with the stock Creative drivers.

Currently using IE6 and trying to find the best version of Firefox to download. Spent all day yesterday scrubbing it with Simple Green, it was coated in mold. O and it is missing half the paint 🤣

Don't bother with firefox with 228MB RAM.

I suggest you try Opera. Somewhere between version 9 and 12 works good on old systems

Ya it is a little sluggish on Firefox 12 or whatever version it is I ended up istalling. Time to scope out Opera and I am trying to figure out the best way to get some form of Flash on here. Somewhere I read about a way to use VLC to play youtube videos. Overall this system is not half bad on 2k, surprising for a 95 based laptop. Heck it even has a USB 1.0 port on the back!

snagged one of those serial to ps/2 converters for $9.99 so will see how well this one does once it gets here.

Nice, a Yamaha 724 card, neat little things those with the little XG synth... A coincidence is that I've just started unscrewing the side panel for my P2, which houses a card with that chip, I think SoundMAX made mine but I don't remember.

Wow someone really decked out your system, mine came to me almost stock and I had to upgrade the CPU and RAM. Nice find though, I love my Packard Bell Platinum 55. Wish I could say I had the monitor and correct mouse but alas I do not. 😜

You don't need AT cases as there are pretty good AT/ATX cable converters

It's not so much the cables that are the issue since as you said, there are all kinds of converters out there. The issue is the standoff/hole arrangement for AT motherboards.

Yep, the mounting holes are different. Some ATX cases have mounting holes for AT form-factor cases, however.
