Not that impressive considering COD2 is still Q3 tech. The only 'cap' you need to emulate is to get around the 512x512 texture support requirement.
Another lunatics from 3dfxZone? 😉
Never thought this thread would be that long, but now, for something different.....

That's crazy but also teaches us that newer hardware isn't as good as they claim.

Agree with you. Take a look at this Doom 3 on Voodoo2 thread. I admit Doom 3 doesn't look as good as it is intended to (probably because Voodoo2 cannot do pixel shader), but the game looks pretty decent even with "plain" texture mapping.

It has potential, but until he switches his 'uber' geforce to a 2 meg S3, I won't be totally convinced.
Seen this long time ago, this guys posts some real interesting things. Thought it was bullshit myself until I tried out COD2 and HL2 on my 5500. It actually works.

I don't remember the URL, but I remember reading about someone who tried MechWarrior (MechWarrior 2: Enhanced for the S3 ViRGE) on S3 Virge on Pentium 4. The frame rate did not improve at all. I think it is doable, textures and all, but the frame rate would be horrible.
