I know about Ctrl F1. That's NOT what this is about.

Here's a situation: I have a game that seems otherwise decent, but has a control scheme I don't like, and unfortunately this was before the days of built-in key configs. (for this instance, Menzoberranzan--a first-person RPG where you use the numpad to move and the mouse to do everything else. Think of how uncomfortable that is).

My solution: Play it in DOSbox, with all the keys remapped to where I would like them to be (basically set it up so that the QWEASDZXC block is used in place of the numpad)

I know how to make custom Dosbox configs, but I couldn't find a way to make configs include a custom keymapping that applies only to that one config.

Anyone got some answers for me?

Thanks in advance.

Alter keymap, save, rename mapperfile, add that mapperfile to your mapperfile setting in the special config for that game

With DOSBox Game Launcher you can specify a custom mapper file for a particular game (it auto-creates it), without needing to alter the dosbox.conf, then use ctrl+F1
