I'm embarrassed I have to ask, but I can't get the damn thing to work.

I want to play a game with a filter, should be easy right? Well there is no "scaler=" line in my default config and if I add one (like "scaler = scan3x" under [render]) it is deleted as soon as I run D-box, as if I'd entered something erroneous!

!!!

What is up with this, help!

I tried with both Wordpad and Notepad, normal spacing and those square things - it will always return to default. 😠

This is unrelated to dosbox though, if your frontend has some forum or the author is watching this thread you may get some help.
Otherwise try one of the other frontends, the popular ones certainly handle scalers correctly.

You can also just read the README to learn how to do it without a frontend. It really is pretty easy.

Well now I'm completely confused. I don't even understand what a frontend is nor why it is not working. Ugh, I've used a Nitendo DS emulator and a click of a button was enough to change a scaler.

Solving the Rubik's Cube is pretty easy for some people, but not for me! I'd go insane reading through the whole readme and ctr+f only gave me this:

-version
output version information and exit. Useful for frontends.

Collector didn't want you to read up on frontends but to read the readme so you don't need frontends.
If you are adament about frontends, go to dosbox.com click on faq and read the wiki on frontends.

[edit... can't edit my post... Why is nothing working for me??]

Ooooh, you meant D-Box, damn, I thought of ask whether it could be causing this, but saw no reason why it would. Yeah, I'll try another one, hate writing dos commands. Thanks.
