Hey guys!

I'm having an issue trying to get the sound playing in the V1.1 version of Top Gun Fire At Will.
This game used to run flawlessly with DOSBox, and on Windows XP I used VDMSound to remedy my issues.

Fast forward today, I would like to play the game again and I've been trying to for the last day.
When I go into the setup to configure the game settings, the sound part says my sound cards not compatible with anything. I've double checked and made sure everything was right in the DOSBox config.
I have tried using all the values, sb1, sb2, sbpro1, sbpro 2, sb16, gb and even GUS to no avail. Tried limiting the cycles to 3000 too. I don't know if my computer is too new or something now and DOSBox doesn't support my audio card?

The game is an original mint copy that I bought for someone on eBay years ago.

Edit: Forgot to mention the sound card I'm using is the onboard one on the motherboard, Realtek ALC898
Specs:
i7-4930k
ASUS P9X79 Pro motherboard
24GB RAM
2 x HD6870s
Windows 8.1 Pro.

If anyone could help, I would really appreciate it.

I have not. This is the only game I've tried.

I managed to get it to work but I really don't know what I did?
I re-installed new drivers, tried to play it on a VMware loaded with Win98, gave up cause it wouldn't load.
Uninstalled DOSBox and deleted the game out of frustration, reinstalled it, reset everything back to default, now magically it detects it.
I did have to fiddle with the INI and manually set the sound to SB16 cause the installer wasn't saving changes to the INI.

I really have no clue what I did but I'm super happy this works now.
