So far so good, but you still need the stupid pink buttons. 😁

Uhh.... Just forgot to ask, who made the Vogons-Logo?
Perhaps, if I can be allowed, I will use it as a sort of template for a museum-logo.

Snover the original admin. You can send him a PM if you want. Though, he'll probably yell at me at suggesting it since he's working on a new scheme for kicks. 😁

brostenen, are you also testing your layout on a mobile platforms (Chrome for Android, Safari for iOS and IE for Windows Phone)? And are you also testing it on Chrome, IE11 and Edge?

Do not see a reason for phone and tablet support. I have hated mobile support since like it was in it's infancy.
The biggest issue that I have with mobile platform's are the fact that not even pages like slashdot works.
The online tradingplace called dba.dk just keeps shuttting it's mobile page down, when the cache is full.
And finally... Most of the times. People here at vogons are using real computers anyway.
For vogons first. If it works on mobile for other people. Fine... Then it works as a mobile thingy.

If someone want's to implement mobile platform, then it's ok with me. I am not going to code for mobile devices.
Vogons is actually one of the only sites that allways work on mobile device.

I test it all on firefox, chrome and ie. Other browsers and mac's/linux/amigaos/beos and stuff like it are not tested.
I test it in Win7 only. As this is somewhat the most used platform of all.
I just do not want to use too many of the new features. It need's to have a certain backwards compatibility.
As I understand it. A larger group of Vogons user's are using Win2000 and Win7 when they surf.

But on mobile devices... Nope.

I don't know about everyone else, but I do browse Vogons on my smartphone very often. I'm not talking about building na entire separate layout/mobile site, just making sure it is somewhat DPI-agnostic (which would also be good for 4k displays) and that it doesn't break when the window size/resolution is too low. Not having to scroll horizontally would also be good.
Vogons's layout is actually very well thought when it comes to supporting a wide range of resolutions: it works fine at low resolutions and does not leave half of the screen empty on a high-res display. I would not call it DPI agnostic as some elements become too small when I'm on mobile - but zooming in and out once in a while to pick a page in a topic won't kill me and it works fine. My one true gripe with Vogons on mobile isn't the layout, but rather that whenever I'm using 3G/4G the server revokes my login too often and I have to login again several times, but this also happens if I use my mobile connection on my laptop, so I guess it is some security measure the server has and something my carrier does triggers it.

Will leave it up to someone else to do a mobile version, when it's up and running.
If such is desired, the people who wants to have it, are free to create it them self's.
And then they have 100% control of the mobile layout.
Have designed the button now. Only thing is missing is to get a hold on that font used.
It's just a CSS class assigned to a button, wich makes it nice.

.ButtonShapeAndTextStyling
{
background-color: #DCA9A9;
border-style: solid;
border-width: 1px;
border-color: #777777;
border-radius: 5px 5px 5px 5px;
box-shadow: 1px 1px 3px #999;
background:-moz-linear-gradient(top,#A47B81 0,#DCA9A9 100%);
background:-webkit-gradient(linear,left top,left bottom,color-stop(0,#A47B81),color-stop(100%,#DCA9A9));
background:-webkit-linear-gradient(top,#A47B81 0,#DCA9A9 100%);
background:-o-linear-gradient(top,#A47B81 0,#DCA9A9 100%);
background:-ms-linear-gradient(top,#A47B81 0,#DCA9A9 100%);
background:linear-gradient(to bottom,#A47B81 0,#DCA9A9 100%);
}

Could you please test on Lynx to make sure it's navigable? Sometimes I browse from DOS on my retro box.

Sorry... If it works in Firefox, Chrome and IE, I consider it to be useable enough.
Lynx is textbased right? I really do not know if an dynamic ASP.NET Framework 4.0 C# and SQL can be made for Lynx.
It is not static html. 😉 Anyway.... If someone want's to make a Lynx version, they are welcome.
As long as they do not break the code. The same goes for mobile. People are more than welcome to take the code,
and make it more compatible, when I am done with what I can do.

Speaking of...
I really hope someone can help with that database, and I really hope it will be in MS-Sql.
That way I can start doing the functions in order to have some more going.
I can probably do some of the stuff that are login related, yet I can not really go that further
now, unless I have access to an ASP.NET webserver, running Framework 4.0
As I need to set up the membership and stuff like that.

Aren't those server-side technologies? All that gets sent to the browser is still regular good old HTML+Javascript AFAIK. It should work on Lynx as is.

Yeah. It is server-side. I have not actually tested anything of what I have done in the past, on such old browsers. 😉
So I really do not want to test on more than what I know the majority are using.

Lynx is actually current and actively maintained. You can run it on modern versions of Windows.
http://invisible-island.net/lynx/

There are a few reasons to test with Lynx:
Lynx constitutes a good base subset of browser technologies
Verifies usage is possible for browsers with JS disabled
Helps check if vision assisted / screen reader usage is possible
If Lynx works, the site can usually be navigated by a more esoteric browser, even if it's not the best experience

Well... It has been slow. And I have been putting this on ICE for the next month or so.
It has been X-Mas and I have my son's birthday and mine to think of in the next 30 day's.

What I still need, is someone to help with the DB. Help me with minor issues, when
my C# skill's don't match up. And such....

First up, I need to do the DB and well... Doing it in MS-SQL now. Not that it might be
a better choice. Only, that this is the only SQL that I have ever worked with.
Second... I need to brush up my skill's, as I have not touched this for like since 2013
or something like that. And so, I will be doing it in ASP.NET FrameWork 4.0, C# and
the SQL of choice will be MS-SQL-2008-r2. Old tech. Yeah... I know...

Most of the design will be CSS driven, mostly 2 yet a little CSS3 for boxshadows
and some border-radius. Nothing more, nothing less.

Just wanted to let you know that I am keeping an eye on this thread 😀

Now I'm really annoyed because my camera 'died' a couple years ago (it still works in the sense that it makes a photo when I press that button, but it won't take any sharp pics anymore which i.m.o. makes it kinda useless 🙁

But I'm already looking forward to contributing 😀
