In the Display Properties tab for my Canopus Pure3D V1 card, there is an advanced options button with an item labeled, "Use Pure3D as primary 3D device". It's quite handy. With my Orchid Righteous 3D, I have to keep reinstalling drivers back & forth between it and my primary video card to choose the primary 3D device. I have a Monster 3D that also lacks this handy functionality. Maybe there are other models of V1 that also have this option.

Anyway, I'm thinking that this option in the Canopus Pure3D drivers is simply setting a flag somewhere in the registry. Does anybody happen to know where it is? If it can be located, perhaps I can save some *.reg files and use them to switch back and forth between V1 and Primary 3D without reinstalling drivers.

Thanks 😀

I would kill for a way to just flick on/off the D3D part of the Voodoo drivers (specifically for a V2), but since I have no idea how the above utility is exactly what I was going to suggest.

Davros, SRQ,

Thank you both for the tip! Somehow, I was completely unaware of this utility. It looks like exactly what I need.

It can get a bit derpy if you play around with drivers a lot, I had to format once when it somehow disabled all D3D devices forever.
If you're drivers are stable it works great.

I tested out 3DCC, but it isn't doing what I need. I think this program is probably ideal if you've got a GeForce card as your primary and either a V1 or V2 as secondary. However, I'm running with a Voodoo 3 AGP and Voodoo 1 PCI. The program does indeed allow you to choose a primary or secondary D3D, but I also need the ability to switch between V3 and V1 for GLIDE. Oh well, it's not too much hassle to just reinstall the drivers for the card I want to use.

Thanks again! 😀

When it comes to glide you just copy the OVLs (for DOS games) or the glide DLLs in the game's folder.
