Hiya,
I recently got the opportunity to benchmark the PCI against the AGP models, for 'research' purposes 😀
The card details:
memory: mt 48lc2m32b2 / PCB rev: A1 2900 PCI (Does anyone know what nanosecond this memory is?)
memory: toshiba tc59s6432cf t-60 / PCB rev: A 1900 AGP (Does anyone know what nanosecond this memory is?)
Benchmark system:
Intel P3 Tualatin 1.4S @ 1.4Ghz
Asus TUSL2-C Motherboard
Infineon 512mb ram CAS 2
Windows 2000 / WHQL latest official 3dfx drivers
Official OpenGL ICD used for all Quake games, no miniGL as miniGL is mainly designed for older voodoos.
AGP:
Q2 - 105fps (1280x960 16bit)
Q3 - 72.5fps (1280x1024 16bit)
Unreal - 106fps (1024x768 16bit)
3dmark 2000 - 5039 (Default bench settings)
3dmark 2001 - 2243 (Default bench settings)
PCI:
Q2 - 104 (1280x960 16bit)
Q3 - 71.8fps (1280x1024 16bit)
Unreal - 103fps (1024x768 16bit)
3dmark 2000 - 4327 (Default bench settings)
3dmark 2001 - 1885 (Default bench settings)
If you're wondering why I only ran tests at those resolutions: it's because that's the res/depth I play my games at and I don't have time to do a really thorough resolution analysis.
