Just kick up the turbos and sell them of "off road vehicles" people will buy them for rally/fun cars. VW will not make a killing but probably more then scrap.
It's funny how VW gets in trouble for this but a lot of duramax, powerstoke trucks on the road are even close to legal. If you see black smoke it's not legal.
Not to mention no one ever compared about there gass engines cheating...

They could just dump the for cheap and a lot of people like myself would be happy to own one, I hate to see anything go to waste like that.

Problem is that you are a potential car customer from VW's point of view. If they provide you cheaply with one of their stored cars, they would probably lose a full price customer over the next few years. In terms of business logic, this is not the dumbest move from VW. Of course, ecologically the decision to let cars just rot to death is more than questionable. I hope, they find a way to make good use of them.

Very true.
This is why I said to sell the car as a off road vehicle.
They could strip them for parts dealers could use?
At least some of the TDIs are getting fixed and resold. VW is currently selling new-old stock 2015 TDIs that were in dealer's inventory that have had the emissions fix done.
