Akin to Win32s for Windows 3.x, people have gotten DirectX 10 going on XP, supposedly 11 as well, but still trying to track that down.

Haven't I seen a closed thread about this topic?
I guess the main difference is that Win32s is an official add-on by Microsoft, while DX10 for XP is a hacked thing.
I don't know where is placed KernelEx (another hack? I'm sure that it is not official), but the moderators chose to close that older XP + DX10 thread.

KernelEx is more like homebrew I think, the last release does the modifications in RAM (no alteration of system files).

IIRC i've even seen malware/virsuses distributed by fake DX10/11 releases for XP
Just buy Vista/7.
