Urban Assault has this in it, literally a "smile" drawn in the map via sector ownership, even the mission is called "Smile":

I don't know if these count as "easter eggs" but surely the level designer had to be bored to make something this silly... So anybody got any more examples of this happening in games?

Is that boredom or just a little easter egg?
Anyway, There's a map in the Extreme ROTT expansion for Rise of the Triad, made by Joe Siegler, in the shape of the Dopefish. I think its called 'Use the Fish'.

If you are squeamish, don't prod the beach rubble.

In one of the dungeons in Morrowind there's a ton of individual coins carefully arranged on the floor to make a picture. The picture has in-game relevance, but it still looked like the map designer was bored and finding a way to kill some time.

Feels more like boredom to me, a easter egg should be hard and obscure to find...
