So weird. Here is how I see the thread in Safari (OS X):
And here — in Chrome (OS X):
I disabled adblockers in both browsers, if that matters.
Here is how it looks on an iPhone (using LTE and not my office network):

Have you upgraded to ElCrap+? I started to have some similar issues with a few sites with Safari 9 on Mavericks (no 10 for 10.9, sadly).
Here’s the LTE screen. Anyway, I’m home now, so network is definitely not an issue here. Sorry to hijack the thread like that 😒

If this is still occurring, try changing your DNS servers in your network card settings OR router (if you use a router) to Google DNS (you can always change it back later): https://developers.google.com/speed/public-dns/docs/using

unless if your using the same DNS or ISP I can't see how you still can't see the images.
Can you see the site they're hosted on ?
