Hi,

I'm in the process of upgrading a Blue Chips PC (Hyundai Super-16) 8088 based PC. I purchased a XT CF ECO LITE with 2gb CF off ebay. The issue is... the 1st (cold/hard) boot, it works perfectly. If I reset the pc (ctrl-alt-del, reset button, or power on/off fast) the XTIDE CF adapter bios still loads but it wont boot from the 2gb CF (C:). It shows: Error 1h. Then attempts to boot from Floppy. I've tried changing the ROM UMB address, but that doesn't seem to be the issue.

Anyone experience this? Could the CF be too slow? I see there is a utility XTCFMODE but I havent tried playing with that.

Hi, do you have got a stuck key (on keyboard) perhaps ? I've had similar issues with my PC/XT clone once. Back then, the Ctrl key was stuck and the hard disk BIOS failed to boot from HDD..

Oh that is an interesting thought. I am using an XT<->PS2 adapter which appears to be working perfectly, but maybe its causing the issue. I'll do an experiment - booting without keyboard and pressing the reset button on the PC to see if it still occurs.

Try another CF card, especially if the one you're using is some unknown chinese one. I've seen this before and a different card solved the problem. If it's the card you will, very rarely like 1 every 100 times, experience the same when cold booting.
And hey, post pics of this Hyundai, which model is it exactly? We love Hyundais 😉

I confirmed it, it's an issue related to the XT->PS/2 adapter. If I boot it without the keyboard and press reset, it always loads fine.

Thanks for the tip Jo22!
