Hi all,
The DIN-5 AT keyboard connector on my 486-motherboard was damaged during shipping and the two front soldered connectors broke.
Should I replace the DIN-5 or re-solder the two front pin connectors ?
Do the two front pins actually connect to anything or are they just there to hold down the connector ?
Thanks

I had the same thing happen to my 486 motherboard. Damaged during shipping.
I am going to replace the connector.
They only cost a couple of bucks on eBay.
You can use a de-soldering gun to remove it or just a solder iron with some solder wick.

if these are the 2 you are talking about they are only holders, resolder them so the connector is strong and should be fine, the 5 solder points under are the actual contentions

Don't use solder wick on through hole, especially old hardware your going to pull a via or a trace
