I've got this strange board, and it looks like it has built in soundblaster that is configurable in BIOS, but I can't find 98SE drivers for it nor will it work with a forced config.sys SET BLASTER using correct parameters. In Devices, it lists a Soundblaster PRO and a question mark beside PCI multimedia device. When you go to Sounds, you can "play" a sound, but nothing actually comes out of the speakers. I tried different ports as well. Sound header is plugged into the board correctly (it's keyed)

Board is called Octek rhino ii via pro 133s, BIOS code 02/18/2000-693-686A-2A6lgv3cc-00

Any leads?

The VIA 686A/B southbridge has a PCI AC'97 sound device that uses DDMA & some trickery to give extremely good DOS SB support. The BIOS options are only half the story - you need an additional driver layer for DOS. See this thread - I linked both halves of the driver package in the second post.

For Win98 the Via 4-in-1 driver package includes the sound drivers. There's differing opinions out there as to which version of this is best but no real consensus, AFAIK - I use version 4.43.

Probably the same as @xjas has already supplied, but if you have a root around in here

the last 3 menu tabs of the left will show you their VIA 693 boards, and if you find yours and follow the links as far as drivers there are some packages for Win 9x Vibra16XV support.
