Is there a good webpage or thread that describes the meaning of these Award BIOS settings on my FIC VA-503+?

I know about this good resource from bitd: https://web.archive.org/web/20030412183857/ht … aprok.net/dave/

I've got a single stick of 128MB RAM, 1MB cache, and a K6-3+ 450 MHz oc'd to 550 MHz. BIOS version JE4330. VIA 4-in-1 drivers, v 4.26.

Everything seems to be working fine. I just wanted to make sure that the settings are optimized. Thanks for any help.

What OS are you running?

That aside, there are quite a lot of performance-related settings on Disabled, things like:
- Write Cache Pipeline
- PCI Dynamic Bursting
- PCI Delay Transaction
- PCI Master Read Prefetch

No idea exactly how much real-life benefit these things will give, but it's worth a try. Benchmark (with Doom or similar real-world benchmark) before and after change to verify impact.

Windows 98SE and DOS 7.1.

I started a thread on write cache pipeline many years ago and found that disabling it stopped my system from crashing. I did not incur a performance penalty with it disabled, either.

The other settings I haven't tested.
