Re: Daggerfall

First of all, you don't need the CD. Download and install the free package and run it. Secondly, you can achieve the same by copying one or two files from the CD to your hard disk (don't remember which files - just search the internet, it's described in several places, possibly even here) and …

Re: Thunderscape (original cd) dosbox 0.74

Just had a quick look. I started DOSBOX (0.74), mounted hard and CD drive, ran install from the CD drive, chose FULL and Soundblaster 16, which installed Thunderscape without a problem. Then I started Thunderscape by entering THUNDER at the DOS prompt and entered a new game by simply accepting the …

Re: Elder Scrolls Arena Cycles Issue

Here a quote from the 1.06 patch notes (i.e. this is independant of DOSBOX): "A Pentium slowdown has been included in the patch. To slow down game play for a Pentium, type: arena -delay:# at the DOS prompt, where # is an integer between 1 and 9. 1 causes the least delay, 9 causes the most delay. We …

Re: Elder Scrolls Arena Cycles Issue

Have you tried "output=overlay"? For my Arena configuration, this makes a difference, compared to "output=surface". With "cycles=25000" and details on max, Arena runs quite smoothly. Regarding hardware and OS, I'm using a 4GB RAM Vista PC with resolution 1280x1024 and a Radeon 3750.

Re: TES 2: Daggerfall

There exist several Daggerfall threads in this forum. In a nutshell: - Install Daggerfall (huge) according to Bethesda's instructions - Edit the file z.cfg (in the Daggerfall folder) to point to your Daggerfall folder (lines "path" and "pathcd"), - Start DOSBox, enter "mount c d:\dagger" or …

Re: Elder Scrolls 1 - Arena

Well, Arena does run under DosBox 0.73. What you are saying about abending during the dream sequence with Ria rings a bell - I must have had the same problem, but not recently. When I compared my arena.conf with the standard dosbox.conf, I noticed 2 differences, which may or may not be related withe …

Re: A.G.E. under DOSBOX?

I have managed to get hold of a French manual of A.G.E. (on a French abandonware site). This manual mentions a copy protection procedure which appears to be identical with that of Galactic Empire. No surprise, but I haven't been prompted to go through this procedure in A.G.E. so far. Another …

Re: A.G.E. under DOSBOX?

Thanks, but 0.65 isn't different from 0.73. Vista? But I tried Win98 compatibility mode, too. No change. Any specific settings required? By the way, the task manager tells me, DOSBox is using about 30% of my CPU capacity while "loading". I terminated it after about 15 minutes.

Re: A.G.E. under DOSBOX?

My apologies - I didn't state the problem clearly enough. When starting A.G.E. using DOSBOX 0.73 and the normal dosbox.conf file, I get to the standard configuration screens of A.G.E (language, sound), and then the intro runs without a problem. After the intro (and pressing F2 for proceeding to the …
