Back in the day I bought a box of Sony floppy drives and none of them worked in the machines I was building (on Intel branded P4 motherboards). I swapped the drives for a different brand.

My upgrades were done on pocket money, I added a CDROM to my 386 in 1995. It ran the talkie adventure games well. The cost of upgrading CPU+mobo+ram to get to an early pentium was pretty tough.

Old drives seem to make more noise with age. Maybe it's not very nostalgic to run them if they don't sound the same any more.

My 386 has the 504mb disk limit, and I noticed that fdisk would still let me add an extended partition. "That can't work", I thought, but I did it anyway. Well I did get another partition, so that was very successful. The contents of my original partition have turned into scrambled eggs, though.

I have PVI-486SP3 with a working PS2 mouse. It is board v1.21 I think. I bought what must be a standard PS/2 socket on eBay which has the 8 pin connector with 6 pins wired in a C shape.
