yep -t cdrom did the trick, mscdex mounted it as cdrom but level01.map was still missing. it is in folder LEVEL01 in the install dir. i tested to copy all the files out of LEVEL01 to the Z root and voila, it works!! :)) only normal vga, with no sound atm, but i can play my good 'ol Z on my linux. …

hm i just copied the whole files from the cd to some folder called Z_CD and started dosbox with -x "MOUNT D Z_CD" maybe it's some sort of copy protection? should i try with the real mounted cd?
