no game expects them so only use is for any possible new software. (YMF71x chipset actually allows OPL3 to produce IRQs in its config but by default this feature is not utilized) Thats a good one. so it wont work in games that IRQ setting? Is it still possible to use the IRQ settings and leave the port address hard wired/ unpopulated? Or would using a different IRQ never work if a header is there?

I save only the rare parts. Dont buying low-end parts in general. I have a lot parts around my hobby area. Mostly keep the older pre-pentium stuff. Dont stock to much up with later systems after Pentium III machines. My intrest is more with the older systems. I know that fixing things cost time.. …

Look for a schematic of the ISA bus slot. Then its easy to find the pin on you card to see where the 5volt plus line is. And then look at those yellow tantalum capacitor and check which one is the shorted one.. Did you also test you system to see if the fault wasnt on your motherboard.?

UNIX / BSD / Linux isnt an option for now.. Iam on the 486 system.. Not on a modern pc. It should work with Xcopy.. or other software running under dos.

i didnt SYS the target drive. But its only fdisk and formatted.. Its saying that /h is an invalid switch. Working with MS-dos 5.0 boot disk.
