Echo Speech Corp Echo DSP Sound Card

Hi all, just rescued this card from a very sad waterlogged 486 tower. Aside from the tower at one point being the home of a squirrel or small rodent, the sound card was in good shape! Anyways, the card is a bit of an enigma. Analog Devices ECHO-based cards seem to be a bit uncommon as-is, with the …

Guillemot Maxi Studio ISIS PCI sound card

Hi all, I recently acquired this sound card. I haven't gotten it up and running in my system yet, but I realized that drivers seem to be really really hard to track down online. The previous owner of this card included the original install media along with some later driver updates. Here's some …

Cyrix FasMath Demonstration Diskette

I found this in a box of floppy disks destined for the trash. Never seen one before, and they don't seem to be all that common. I don't have a system with a FasMath installed, but I did make an image of the disk (.IMA format). Filename Scan_20200306.jpg File size 348.2 KiB Views 252 views File …

Re: Dead Adlib, is it genuine?

Thanks for all of the help. I'll get the tantalum caps on order and try to get them all replaced nicely. As for the values of the capacitors, I assume the modern Adlib kits are using the same values? If not, has anyone documented them?

Re: Dead Adlib, is it genuine?

I am testing this card in a 16-bit ISA slot on a Pentium MMX 200MHz system. Would there be any sort of compatibility issues that I may have missed? I ran a Sound Blaster 1.5 perfectly fine in this system, so I figured the Adlib would be fine. It has an ATX power supply, so I assume it's not powering …

Re: Dead Adlib, is it genuine?

maxtherabbit wrote: 16 KILO ohms? that's hardly a short I agree, but compared to the 12V and -12V lines, which are in the range MegaOhms, it is an outlier. I checked the same pins on a couple of other ISA cards I have lying around (SB16, etc) and their 5V lines have several megaohms resistance to …

Dead Adlib, is it genuine?

Hey everyone, I got this Adlib sound card a few months back from a college that was liquidating a ton of old computer parts. I tried testing it in a machine and the computer wouldn't turn on with the card installed. I checked for continuity between the lines and there seems to be a ~16kOhm short to …

Re: DUDE, show me your Dell!

And I'll stop with these two: m1710_m1730.jpg The one on the right doesn't have too much of a story behind it. One day at the recycling center I work at, it just kinda materialized on a pallet of towers one day. I got it for $20 AS-IS. It's a Dell XPS M1710. A little bit beat up, but works fine! The …

Re: DUDE, show me your Dell!

Next up, my Dell XPS 730X (Formerly H2C) This machine was rescued from a computer shop's e-waste pile. When I got it, it was plastered in "vape nation" stickers and definitely smelled the part. After much goo-gone and a proper dusting, the machine looked great! It originally came with the H2Ceramic …

Re: DUDE, show me your Dell!

Oh boy do I have a treat (or rather, a whole buffet) for you guys. It'll take me a bit to get decent pictures of the rest, but lets start with humble beginnings... xps410.jpg This is my XPS 410. It was one of the first machines I was able to play around with (throwaway from my aunt), and it's still …
