I finally recapped and installed ceramic capacitor shunts in my Asus P5A v 1.06 with 1mb of cache, K6 plus mod. The 1meg of cache I installed recently (see above) by adding tag sram IC and two resistors R33 and R35 of 33 Ohm. It runs 5000+ pts at 617 MHz (112x5.5) with cache on @ 2.5v . …

That is awesome :D I could only run at 120MHz, 124MHz made my hard drive crash I think. Is it stable at 120x5.5? My VIA Tekram runs @ 133 and hdd never crashes . My P5A mobo is unstable at 110 and above . It crashes-reboots and it can’t go over 600. I think I can improve stability by recapping. 124 …

I’ve finally managed to swap the cache on my P5A 1.06 mobo from 512k to 1mb. However, I’m facing stability issues and I just can’t get my tests complete yet. Maybe full recap is needed. It cannot run stable at 124 MHz , but it did earlier. Maybe tag SRAM IC must be replaced to a more agile one.

You can try lowering the timings on the cache. I was only able to get my 4ns 2Mb cache on my freeway board to run around 124fsb What score dou you have in 5k challenge with your freeway mobo with 2 megs of 124Mhz cache ? I had 5000+ with 1 meg of 124Mhz cache @ 624 MHz of K6-3+ . Now I have new …

Does anyone know what the highest score is for MVP3? You can find some here My guess is that the fastest scores can be achieved with VIA MVP3 boards that support FSB frequencies higher than 100 MHz (i.e. Epox boards like the EP-MVP3G5). Couple that with a bit of fine tuning and I'm sure that you …
