Re: Weird wrapper tricks

Davros wrote: I'd like a d3d to opengl wrapper that supports dx7 and earlier DXGL is currently the one to watch. That or Wine on Windows (assuming you are on Windows.) I talk about both here: Re: dgVoodoo 2 for DirectX 11

Re: Weird wrapper tricks

3dfxvgl isn't minigl. It is the full OGL ICD for Voodoo2. So - you CAN rename it to opengl32.dll. And glsetup can install it as the system OGL driver. Voodoo1/Rush/Banshee/3/4/5 uses 3dfxogl.dll but this .dll is the full OGL ICD too. Both .dlls execute some (all?) opengl calls through glide3x calls …

Re: dgVoodoo 2 for DirectX 11

Admittedly, I don't know much about DX10 or 11, but as old as Zeckensack's is, would DX11 be called when it predates it? I could generate a log for Zeckensack's, if it would help. Zeckensack's is a Glide 2.4x to OpenGL 1.x wrapper. So no, I don't see how that could be. PS. Why does this MoE.log …

F2bnp wrote: Excellent write up 😀. Techland were awesome, how many developers would do this, ever ? Considering it seems that the videocard manufacturers made the MiniGL's, and Techland their "TCGL" (I'm gonna call it for now), I'm gonna guess none! 😁

Re: dgVoodoo 2 for DirectX 11

From last year: Further investigating the 3Dfx driver, I got to the following: Original OpenGL driver is not a pure OpenGL->Glide3 Napalm wrapper, unfortunately (as for Windows). OpenGL uses the SURFACE extension. The problem is that surface implementation is only partial in Glide3, creating and …

Re: dgVoodoo 2 for DirectX 11

I think this has been asked already but will any of the previous dgVoodoo 1 features ever return for dgVoodoo 2? Or are they just too old? - 32-bit NTVDM support from glide.ovl / glide2x.ovl / glide3x(?).ovl to Glide.dll / Glide2x.dll / Glide3x.dll - dgvesa - others? Or else will it be possible to …

Re: Carmageddon D3D acceleration in DOS

However: Experimentally you can replace the GLIDE2X.DLL file in Glidos or in dgVoodoo with an alternative wrapper file. This could break Glidos or dgVoodoo in non-obvious ways: the way the OVL communicates with the DLL had been a closed-source secret until DOSBox released its Glide wrapper patch, …

Re: Weird wrapper tricks

I did this writeup over at nGlide forums and thought I'd bring it here: http://www.zeus-software.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=3998#p3998 Techland's "OpenGL" Drivers Yes, Crime Cities is a Glide game - sorta. It's more like a miniGL game. Crime Cities uses its own 3D engine that renders to OpenGL, but …

Re: dgVoodoo 2 for DirectX 11

Still no joy for ATI You mean it doesn't work on ATI? Well I didn't changed Glide shaders at all since the last version so the same issues are expectable... :( I submitted my bug report with a simple repro app to ATI back in April but there's no answer at all. I also doubt they fixed anything …

Re: dgVoodoo 2 for DirectX 11

One of my Linux-using friends said "*SNRK* WINE has had decent support for DirectX/Direct3D 7.0 and lower for quite some time now" so I am curious how dgVoodoo 2 DirectX compares against Wine for Windows. Personally, I don't have a clue. :) Never tried Wine on Windows. Maybe the newest version is …

Re: dgVoodoo 2 for DirectX 11

Visiting my folks for thanskgiving so hopefully I'll have time for testing.... ... They work tomorrow so hopefully no more work for me... heh One of my Linux-using friends said "*SNRK* WINE has had decent support for DirectX/Direct3D 7.0 and lower for quite some time now" so I am curious how …

That is a lot of information. Much appreciated. You're welcome! I started it, and then I thought that I could maybe use it as a general-purpose article about wrappers, so I put a lot of work into it. ;) [EDIT] Just made a few more tweaks to clarify some things and add another wrapper to your "to be …

Re: dgVoodoo 2 for DirectX 11

I released a new version. First version of DX5, 6 and 7 support is added. But haven't yet tested with tons of games. By now and for the time being I have enough of it all. Amazing stuff! I have no time for wrapper testing these days (just time for, well, talking about them) but I hope my …
