Re: Descent 2 Screwed Up!

in DOS
Anyhow, Arn is a Voodoo3 user. If he uses those hacked Voodoo3 drivers for XP, GliDOS should work fine. Heck, I think even Descent 2 (Glide) would work fine. But it appears he doesn't want to use Glide... hmm... maybe Paul would have some advice for doing that anyhow...

And I helped with the name/theme. They were gonna call it "OGONS" and I'm like, "waitaminute..." P.S. The phrase "VBulletin hack" is kinda interesting... http://www.google.com/search?q=%22VBulletin+Hack%22

Lemmings

mm, that's a toughie - he'll have to compare both Lemmings (DOS) with Lemmings 95 (Windows) and the Mac version. Good luck, Nicht!

Er...

How sure are you that it is an int 13h problem? I've just looked at int 13h on the ralph brown site and its all about direct access to discs. A few things confuse me. Let's ignore INT13H for now. Could it be a CLI-related issue, though? http://www.vogons.org/showthread.php?threadid=31 I'm not sure …

Re: MT-32 emulation

This is for whoever might be interested (yeah, right) and/or for me to keep track (and actually remember at some point in the future) that I'm supposed to conrinue working on this. ;) Step 1: digitally record the MT-32 at work Well, got the first incarnation of the USB "ripper" (more of a high- …

Re: HELP: VDMSound and Revolution-X

Keep in mind: there are alternate pathways to the same result. Revolution-X was originally an arcade game. If you own the arcade game, you can legally run the game on your home computer. You would need to "dump" the ROMs and download them to your computer. You would also need to install an emulator …

Re: Slow midi

So, to rephrase the problem: We have a MS-DOS 16-bit application that directly programs the PIT. We're now using Windows, and we'd like to intercept the value at which the PIT is programmed using a 32-bit TSR, but we don't know how to read the PIT start-count value. Is this possible? Could be a good …

Re: Slow midi

Impossible. It would have been almost possible if there was a way for me to get the value at which the PIT was programmed and then assume that the most that Windows could do is 1kHz and provide the rest, but there is no documented way of getting the PIT start-count value. Damn. DOSBox logs it, I …

Re: Windows Longhorn screenshots

And no, I'm not joking - I would seriously like to see screenshots of the other horrible GUI's... not because I think they're good, but because they're fun to make fun off :P Hm, haven't found any screenshots of the GUI in Hackers (even harder since I haven't seen the movie yet), but I did find a …

Re: Compatibility database

Windows titles, other than an occasional patch are "go" or "no-go", they're not like DOS titles that might need SAPUCDEX or "low-level CD access and usually don't have sound configuration (other than off/on/volume). Those would probably be better served in a different database (actually all it …
