Re: Flight unlimited

in DOS
Two more final notes. 1. Make sure you've updated FU with the latest v2.4 patch. http://www.patches-scrolls.de 2. All this advice, up til' now, has been for the DOS version. However, searching the web turned up "Flight Unlimited for Windows 95". I'm told that this uses DirectX. If you can find it, …

Re: Re: Ultima Underworld 2

Having said that I also don't know much about "AbandonLoader"... It's a pretty neat program from what I hear, but I don't use it myself: http://abandonloader.gamport.net http://www.angelfire.com/realm/zeroone/abandon.htm We get users every once in a while who say they use it. Search the forums.

Re: Flight unlimited

in DOS
That should fix it in Windows 2000/XP, then, too. You'll prolly need NOLFB too. (Just going by the website's description of the fix.) Er, Colin, this is a Deep Thought-type solution, or should be, IMHO. [EDIT] That is, if that's the only problem, a VESA issue. Still, test out this solution in 2000/ …

Re: OpenGlide Compatibility Thread

OpenGlide, for now, will only do Windows Glide games. But if you know how, you could easily make a version that supported DOS Glide games. That is what Paul did with GliDOS, and he charges for it because it has other features too. Theoretically, if he did not want to attract too much attention for " …

Re: Win98? PLEASE?????!

The ones for Windows that come with my folks AC '97 audio chip are positively shocking. Incidentally, an online acquaintance of mine has done some work in improving DOS AC '97 audio drivers. See here: http://vsynchmame.mameworld.net/ So far, he's done drivers for soundcards/chips that use: RealTek …

That's exactly what an emulator/translator/whatever is supposed to work around This phrase is still sticking in my throat. DAMN it all! Programmer, my ass, or else you'd know IT'S JUST NOT POSSIBLE to work around some of these problems that are caused by Windows NT/2000/XP!!! I'd like to see you do …

Re: Out this world

Leolo - for Basilisk II problems, I recommend going to Delphi Forums. There's several forums with resident Basilisk II experts there. I recommend this one: http://forums.delphiforums.com/MacEmulation/start You may also want to look at Emaculation.com, although it's seen better days.

You have the gall to mention "thousands" of games working. This I would love to see...where's the list? The compatibility list I saw didn't look too long at all, and I'd love to see where you get this kind of delusion. http://vdmsound.sourceforge.net/compat "Currently supporting 129 DOS …

Re: vdmsound in different archive format?

Damn. I own both and use both of those utilities in Win98, and have been looking forward to using them on my next machine.... So I'd have to install VDMS before either of those utilities, or uninstall them both, install VDMS, and then reinstall them? That sucks. See if you can figure it out.

Re: Game freezes

In the meantime, classicgaming has the freely distributable Apple II version and the the emulator to run it. This is the 1985 original (whoah...Carmen goes back further than I thought). http://www.classicgaming.com/rotw/carmen/ Audio/Visuals will obviously look quite primitive compared to your VGA …

Re: Win98? PLEASE?????!

What's wrong with Win9x users not wanting to boot into DOS to run their games? There's many cases where having the DOS drivers load, then booting into Windows 98 and playing the game doesn't work or gives you no sound. Besides, it's always great to port something to another OS in my book. I'm …

Re: OpenGlide Compatibility Thread

We shouldn't have to do that Glide2-Glide3 renaming, Paul... ;) And they shouldn't be that similar that just copying Glide2 to Glide 3 works fine. There are certainly many Glide3 functions which aren't in Glide2 or are implemented differently in Glide3, and it should require a slightly different …

Re: Unreal: how do they do that.

Here's the strange thing. When I played it first, years ago, I could never get OpenGL to work, so I used D3D, and I think it was only when I installed DirectX 8.0 that I got the full lighting effects (and also the cobwebs for that matter). I assumed the lighting was using some special phong thingy …
