Re: AMBER Journeys Beyond

in Windows
Nono, you see, LINGO is compiled into the EXE; there is no way of retrieving it. Here is an info from dirOpener pages: "Lingo is a programming language that has been developed by Macromedia to allow you to program things in an easy to understand language. The director engine(that translates machine …

Re: AMBER Journeys Beyond

in Windows
I'm surprised nobody has made a thread for this one yet. Interesting. I was also surprised and wanted to do it. I found some threads which can be interesting in this regard: http://webforums.macromedia.com/director/messageview.cfm?catid=186&threadid=348535&highlight_key=y&keyword1=director%205 …

Re: Comments on the screenshots of the cvs

in DOSBox General
Hmm.. The Flight of the Amazon Queen would run here in Windows 98 without any optimizing, tweaking and the like. Strange, I don´t have Win98 now but I´ve had this OS before and I remember I couldn´t run this game straight in it, I always got "not enough conventional memory notice" regardless of …

Re: D (Acclaim Game)

in DOS
Sounds about right. Someday we'll have to make a concentrated effort to break through this compatibility wall (again). At least part of the effort seems it should concentrate on how to tell these "detection" programs that the video card really is VESA. It would be great and I´m looking forward for …

Re: D (Acclaim Game)

in DOS
You might try seeing if you can't find the Playstation version (I have it). Thank you, but I don´t have Playstation (and I don´t want to buy it because of Ark) so the only way is to use an emulator. Besides, such an old game is probably hard to find and I doubt that this particular title is worth …

Re: D (Acclaim Game)

in DOS
I've already tested it under DOS the video problem still remains. The last weeks I tested over a hundred of games running under XP, Win98 and DOS - this is the ONLY Game not working with my Card (Geforc3 Ti) under any of the operating sytems. Maybe some VESA drivers could help? Are there others …

Re: Pandora Directive

No "stuck-mouse syndrome", eh? That's an odd one. I can't seem to find a pattern other than it seems to happen mostly to GeForce owners (but has never happened to me). I don´t know, maybe it´s not graphic card related but it depends on type of OS. I have WinXP and I´ve read some complaints from …

Re: Mouse in top half of screen only in game

Well, that was longer than expected and less successful than hoped!! It will not even run up on my G400 equipped system - complains about no VESA mode! Maybe you could try Mon-ARC. "Mon-ARC PLUS is a TSR (Terminate and Stay Resident) program that co-exists with the existing VGA BIOS, enabling the …

Re: Pandora Directive

Did you try the official (and now, free) 6.53/6.7 versions? Yes and without success - in DOS (and 6.7 also in XP) they report no supported chip detected, 6.53 in WinXP NTVDM detects WinBond W9970CF with 1MB but it didn´t help with anything. As far as the GF2 is concerned, it seems that it and the …

Re: Pandora Directive

*jinx* You know that now, according to Murphy's Law, you're going to come across a title that will only run properly within a Win9x environment. *heh* Feeble Files and Amber are such titles, but it is possible to get them running in Connectix Virtual PC (but Feeble is very slow on my computer, …

Re: Pandora Directive

I recently found Win98 will bomb out on any Intel processor running faster than 2.1GHz (98SE can handle it), so it's days are numbered. No tears as far as I´m concerned. Since most of my Windows games work under XP (except of Amber and Feeble Files), I prefer dual boot with DOS only. I´ve recently …

Re: Pandora Directive

I haven´t played Pandora in XP for long so I also haven´t switched CD much, but I don´t recall a crash during CD switching. But sudden crashes occurred quite often (and yes, I´ve used hacked executable), although I don´t remember exactly where. I think that when I restarted game, I was usually able …

Re: Pandora Directive

Actually there's been one notable glitch throughout all the posted configs in this thread. They all point to using 5 as the IRQ for sound. Strange thing but I hear no difference - with IRQ 5 or 7 in Pandora Digi Config while IRQ is 7 in VDMSound it gives me the same result - rather good (although …

Re: Pandora Directive

*heh* In all honesty, if your eyes are starting to hurt, you probably need to take a break from playing games. Yes, and not only from playing games but generally from using computer (Oh no, I really need it, it´s more important to me than blanket to Linus :) ). But seriously - I would say that even …

Re: Pandora Directive

I think that this really is a serious problem, because it is about health of the eyes. I agree with you that Unirefresh and VBEHz are only POSSIBLE solutions with no promises and I´ve always emphasized that it works on MY computer. But I have an experience with some friends who thought that it …

Malko wrote: Terra Wortmann Magic 1795F. Never heard of it, huh? 😀 Never, but it has similar parameters as my monitor. Did you try - vbehzcfg - 23 - 80kHz - 100Hz? -------------------- pandora.bat: @echo off vbehz set dos4gvm= tex4.exe %1 %2 %3 %4

Re: the new adventures of the time machine

in Windows
Thanks, Jiri, I'll give it a try. This is definitly an interesting site, I must look into it! Yes, that site is really good (except of colours, but Inferno probably must be black and red :) ). Trying to figure out this stuff is more exciting,(and entertaining), than any adventure game I have played …

Re: the new adventures of the time machine

in Windows
I don´t have The New Adventures of the Time Machine so I can´t try it, but on this XP compatibility list is mentioned that this game can work in XP - there is also set-up for the game but no info about "ISDX_ERR_BADWINDOWSVERSION" so maybe it won´t help.
