i should also note doom source ports do not necessarily behave like Chex Quest should behave. DOSBox (for the first game) or recent Zdoom (seperately or with Chex Quest 3) are the best options.

Most likely a game bug. PQVGA is one of the earliest SCI1 games made and one of the most ambitious functionally so don't be surprised if it's buggy. I never liked it though since I couldn't 'drop pants'

Two futuristic 3d racing games from 98 and 99 and they don't even work well for the target specs (Pentium IIs on a Voodoo2)!!! What gives!!! Did they even test these games?!

I have a Monte Carlo that also uses the same CS4231 codec and sound blaster pro support happens to be only through an annoying tsr that doesn't work half the time. It's better on windows though (DUH OF COURSE given it's the Windows Sound System)
