FWIW, the V+ are at least compatible with stock Trio64 drivers (and are intended to be according to their tech papers IIRC). I have a V+ but I don't own NT 3.51

Unreal doesn't really need an install though. One could just copy the folders directly from disc and run it from there...

The installer on my copy of HL works absolutely fine on 7 x64..... and it IS Installshield-based. (HL GOTY should be 1.0.0.9 from Sep 1999 at the latest fyi.)

Vulkan has more potential for low level fakery of the Voodoo chips themselves, though I can't imagine that on zeus' roadmap (dithered mips, etc)

MS-DOS 7.1 CDs aren't real (or any other separate distribution). Only trust "DOS 7" as shipped with Windows 9x installations. You'll save so much trouble from avoiding secondhand alleged "rare version ms dos abandonware", who knows what cruft could be lurking within them.

VIA's only best with 3dfx cards. I learned that the hard way 🙁 this is not fandom talking or any implication of "3dfx VooDoo Grafik Superiority". VIA SS7 + SBLive and ATI/NVidia do not mix.
