The defaults (3000 cycles on core auto) should be fine. It's a 1991 adventure game, it shouldn't take much (other than the heavy amount of disk space at the time) It's also time-based, and having too fast of a CPU setting will cause the game to be unwinnable iirc

Only earlier DX games will allow use of the software renderer (Ramp/RGB/MMX emulation) and they're usually of the DX3/5-era primitive graphics/retained mode sort.

Besides those very colorful cables and the recent software on the shelf, it's already nailing down the early 90s look. I'd probably stick some rad looking digital clock or a large floppy storage container on top of the cabinet

I know i've run DOSBox in PCem before, which is reasonable because PCem actually supports Windows 95. So in essence, this is a x86 dynamic recompiler working with another x86 dynamic recompiler, and nothing is royally screwing up on the way there.

If you've got a 3dfx card, you'll most often see it on the splash animation. 😀 and that's usually the only place you'll ever see it.

I also used Automenu around the time 😀 but even before that I used some .bas file that made a .com file of an ascii menu screen to be used in conjunction with bat files

It's already a consumer-grade best hardware list. I'm sure there could be a separate list for professional/industrial grade best parts (like Intergraph 3d cards 😜 and the gigabytes of the 1980s)

OPENRA IS NOT EVEN THE SAME it's a crufty reimplementation focused on muliplayer only and doesn't play the same. Single player isn't supported. also it's really jerky also the free C&C release is the later Win95 release which has different (and cut down!) MIX files.
