The Virge wouldn't have been able to provide 3d hardware acceleration for HL anyway. It greatly lacks the capabilities compared to even a PCX2...and the performance as well, it'd run nowhere near the software renderer's speed 🤣

There can be a few SP3 minimum games which deliberately do this to deter the "sp2 pirates". since SP3 had mandatory WGA.

more like 128-256MB RDRAM and a Geforce2 GTS if you're really gunning for late 2000, and if you got suckered into the P4 hype then you'd most likely be ending up using Windows Me as well 😀

IIRC that's a different, completely unrelated 1997 GCS game that's coincidentially named "Terminal Terror" (I have it and it's most definitely not the 1994 GCS game by Pie) The Gamesmania terror.zip file is supposed to be XCOM 2: Terror From the Deep.

Technically the only thing glquake does different for the voodoo vs the others is adjust the default texture intensity (fake gamma) a little. The "Better" high gamma correction of 1.7 is 3dfx's own doing

Probably doesn't help that a standard unzipped unaltered installation of GLQuake ships with the said 3dfx MiniGL by default (since 3dfx was megapopular then, for convenience), that it'll error out a glide2x not found if you don't have one, giving false pretenses that it's "OK IT'S GLIDE GAME" also a …

I used to innosetup my installed games as such (convenient mass clean uninstalling FTW). Finding good icons for the dos games is the most timeconsuming part X_X
