"Abandonware" is hardly about preservation if they have all the timestamps set to 12/24/96 and the game is broken. CGW did something horrible for one disc though, mirroring some outright HOTU rips on one of their discs thinking abandonware's a legal thing. Definitely a reaction to PC Gamer's disc, and a lazy one at that.

It's most likely Win32 (Windows 95 etc, hence "DOS mode") . A Win16 program would say "This program requires Microsoft Windows" for its DOS stub.

It's not a card in that case. It's a chipset. If it has a docking station you could try shoving your favorite ISA sound card in that, but at that point it's not really a laptop anymore 😀

The only issue with it is of course it doesn't support GLide which is needed for some 3D games in DOS (it's advertised as a 3D accelerator, but I assume it meant Direct3D/OpenGL which is useless in Dos/Win3.x). -1 on Matrox, it's a keen jerker. If I were curious about this batch I'd head straight for the Rage II because of the 2d core and DirectX performance +1 S3 for reliability and compatibility though, both of them -1 on Voodoo Rush 😵
