I can play games meant for a Pentium on a 2002-dating Pentium 4. That's how ridiculously fast it is now.

I'm dependent on my retro computers for performance evaluation of new content so it becomes less of a guilty pleasure and more of a necessity - especially since those newfangled OpenGL ES-powered devices are probably as slow as them despite speccing high in the GHz. Stuff like this screenshot here …

glquake2 shouldn't even be necessary. Quake2 ships with a newer 'pvrgl.dll'

I noticed Direct3D support renders the DXGL solution obsolete 😀 Eradicator has a segfault on startup btw. That's an AWE32 game for sound effects

Lots of the PowerVR GL releases are actually the same 1.0.0.1 MiniGL driver with a slightly or unchanged readme file. The Half-Life one is 1.0.1.9.

Dragon UnPACKer can hunt down MIDI files with the HyperRipper (as well as give a ton of 669 false positives). Try that.

Several reasons: - playing older games is an obvious one. There's still that 6th generational CPU 3D accelerated gap missing from emulation (some special DOSBox builds are ALMOST there with Win98+3dfx Voodoo support). Cycle accurate 486 emulation's there, but for the high-end ones it's pretty slow …

You will be missing table fog. This will break most notably several LucasArts 97-99 games.

Heretic II and SiN also has a Rendition Verite MiniGL. Does that qualify? Heretic II also has a G200GL driver for Matrox G200, which is just a Direct3D wrapper strictly for that card.

I mostly have the blank desktop because it is a production computer where I want my UI looking as rawly familiar as possible as i focus on art hobbies. It's also okay for programming (in VC6 anyway)

I've noticed DXGL can work with PCem and allows the Steam Overlay to function with it albeit slowly. 😀
