Going from Voodoo3 to Voodoo Banshee is pointless since Voodoo3 is practically a dolled up Banshee. A single Voodoo2 12MB was enough for me. Use it in addition to your Voodoo3 so you attain higher DOS Glide compatibility while keeping your powerful host Voodoo3 card for the Windows Glide games.

Since AVP2 and JK2 are on your list, the AMD K6-2 is a big fat NO! for those (even the 500mhz variants). You'd need at least an Athlon Thunderbird or later Pentium III for those two to play well. Did you check out the ASS source code? It ships with ROTT and Duke3D's source and is the sound library those games use (as well as Shadow Warrior and Blood)

And that spec I mentioned is only up to the startings of 2002. Of course you could push it a bit beyond by having tualatin and sticking a Radeon 8500 in there (and not a Geforce, purely for SmartGART compatibility reasons)...

1997 440LX PII 233 system - throw in a Riva128 and a Voodoo 2 from the following year and you're probably held well until 2002 when the really DX7ey games start appearing. Hard to believe Warcraft III originally targeted this kind of machine but in the end became far too slow.
