i've never seen vquake actually. Is the dynamic light a big orange glowy ball similar to GLQuake? PNG screenies? It's hard to zoom in and study with the JPG artifacts getting in the way.

You don't even have to do that. FF7 always used Direct3D when you're using the Riva patch/option or not. There's also Glide support too. o rly?
