Perhaps it can be used to upgrade the memory of a Gravis Ultrasound MAX from 512kb to 1mb? I used a socketed memory chip from a simple PCI graphics card to upgrade mine.

Perhaps there is an IRQ conflict with another device? After all, it's needed for MIDI In, but AFAIK not necessarily for MIDI Out. Or perhaps you need to specify an IRQ for the MPU in that program, but the card itself is actually using a different IRQ? I can't really think of anything else I'm afraid …
