Re: Unable to mount CUE/BIN

Ok, I tried creating an image using alcohol 120 and dosbox still gives the error. I've even created an image, mounted it, and then used another piece of software to create an image from the mounted image 0 hoping that maybe the mounting of the image would bypass whatever issue is occuring. Here are …

Re: Unable to mount CUE/BIN

I have a feeling we are talking about 2 different games. Ultimate Yahtzee was a commercial release by Hasbro. Besides, shareware (if it did exist for this game) likely would work. The files on the disc work. It's the image of the disc that dosbox won't mount is the problem. Other software has no …

Unable to mount CUE/BIN

I used Daemon Tools to create a BIN/CUE of of a game called Ultimate Yahtzee. Having done this thousands (literally) of times before, I was surprised when dosbox informed me that it was unable to mount the image, stating that it was either not a cue/iso or it contained errors. The game contains 6 …

Savage: The Ultimate Quest for Survival

I've setup over 700 games in win3x at this point and apart from the fact my postman hates me and I hear that bloody chime in my dreams sometimes, it has been rather successful so far. Today's oddball is Savage: The Ultimate Quest for Survival. I started by setting the game up using a vanilla 0.74 w/ …

Re: Night Cafe (Win .x)

Well, I did reinstall WinG after the game installed at one point to make sure I had the latest copy. I'm used to reinstalling VFW after game installs in order to get back to the 1.1e version. So I was looking for files on the CD that might be over riding files in the install.

Re: Night Cafe (Win .x)

There doesn't appear to be any WinG files on the cd. The root folder has some basic readmes, a setup, icon file, and quicktime setup. A FILES folder contains the quicktime movies (.mov), CXT and DXR files. Then a MEDIA folder contains 2 different language folders, each one full of AIF files. I …

Night Cafe (Win .x)

This is a really strange one. The game installs fine and launches fine in the recommended Win 3.x install as described here in the forums. If the game is launched with the video driver set to more than 256 colors it will warn the user at launch that the game may not look proper. Sure enough, the …

Re: Jack's Attic

I thought I had replied to this, however it seems I was imagining things. I am a game collector and a few years back I began attempting to catalog every windows 3.x game ever made by scraping sites like mobygames, eli's software, and several other sources. Once I got a database of games I compared …

Re: Jack's Attic

Thanks for the suggestion. I gave the low memory a shot and got the same response. Considering the game is from 1997, it is likely an inherent issue to the game. I should probably set up an actual Win 3.x computer for testing games like this, however I'm not sure I've kept enough old parts around to …

Jack's Attic

This has been an interesting one. Jack's Attic is a Win 3.x game. My standard setup for other Win3.x games is 0.74 w/ Win 3.11 installed along with the recommended versions of Quicktime, Video for Windows, and Win32s when needed. Once installed, the game goes to a black screen after running it's …

Re: Harpoon Classic 97

Unfortunately I did try your suggestion to boot into DOS. I then attempted to create a dos hard drive image, installed, win 3.x to it, and used the X-branch build's ability to mount ide drives to mount the games ISO and pass it through as the D: It acted the same way, which is what led me to start …

Harpoon Classic 97

Being a Win3x game I don't have a lot of hope for finding an answer here, but I figured I would try anyways. I have setup several hundred of my win3x games over the past few months, so I know that my win3x setup is valid and while I'm still no expert, I've learned how to handle the most common …

Re: DOSBox-X branch

wow.. I popped open the disk image and didn't see a config or autoexec, so I assumed it didn't use them. DosFreak - the image boots directly in w95. I'm not sure how it is possible to boot to dos first and then start up win95. Maybe you mean by hitting f8 during boot and redirecting to the dos …

Re: DOSBox-X branch

Using this branch I was successful in installing Win 3.x to an image, booting the image, and accessing the mounted cd image. However I have not been able to do this with Win95. In Win 3.x, apart from adding the ide sections to the conf file and mounting the image, I also had to define the driver …
