With the dos version of quake I remember the modes being alot higher even than 1024x768 :p.

Generally 800x600 is the main big one that alot of games use.

Why not just put an extra line in that batch file so that it mounts the cdrom first then runs the file. Eg: dosbox c:\game -c MOUNT D D: game.exe

Correct me if I`m wrong here but I`m pretty damn sure that that corresponds to the graphics and not protected mode, inwhich case you`d need to change the settings in the options menu for it.

Well 7th guest, Syndicate and all of the wingcommanders (as far as I know anyway) require the cd to run.

I`d recommend downloading edonkey2000 then if all else fails, as that has pretty much any game you could name on it.

YES!!! I`m having the exact same problem. Which doesn`t cause that much problems really except in games that really need the shift button (wolfenstein etc).

Mind my french but thats pretty fucked up for a game to do that. I mean some adventure games use weird enough logic as it is, but that takes the cake.

Ok I tried what you suggested and that fixed it up just fine. I had had the irq set to 5 rather than 7 which was what was causing the problem. Now I just need to wait for some improvements with speed and I`ll be able to play it to the fullest 😀.

I`d agree with that considering how much dosbox has been improving over time. Oneday I hope to play 7th Guest through it (I wouldn`t even try at the moment). Besides Fallout, MM5 is the one early rpg game I know of to have swearing in it. Anyways I`ll try changing the sound settings when I get home (at work at the moment). And let ya know how it goes.
