You got to be realistic, how much stuff would you actually salvage? Was the 386 DX40 the last common soldered desktop CPU? I'd assuming that was fine as the 386 wouldve been a budget chip on the those motherboards. I dont think its such a big deal, CPUs are so powerful these days its not like in the past where you could save many hundreds of dollars within a year by …

I agree, would'nt you want to play Farcry at 1920X1080 etc? your system wont run Farcry well at any decent resolution I would go the 3200XP/2.2GHZ, Im sure its a faster CPU if my memory serves me correct.

Hi, I just got a Trust Visionrunner 64 / ET4000W32P It has 1meg memory installed. 20 PIN DIP sockets, 8 of them the installed memory is marked AAA1M304J-45 NPNX 9423 A3 So that means I need to find 8, 128K 20 Pin dip dram rated at 45ns? or faster? I haven't found or know what to look for, any help …

Are you using windows 95 or 98? Windows will have the drivers built in/on the disc.

I would go for it, 2mb would allow you to run 1024x768 in 16 bit colour, extra memory does'nt give you better performance only more resolution and bit depth. Its reasonably priced (IMO)

I got the quake 2 timedemo up to 15.2fps with sound on a POD83 with Voodoo3 by turning off the gun and particle effects which is somke/blood, etc, I dont recommend turning off particle effects but I could live without the gun being visable, that was about 14fps, The commands are cl_particles 0(1 …

I think UMC chipsets generally offer more features for tweaking performance settings, my sis does not have an option for 50mhz for instance.
