Yeah r16 is probably old enough that it still used chained mode and no "blitting" tricks, the more recent versions try to be a bit more efficient but it might lead to weird results. Does it work fine without FastVid? I wonder if FastVid has problems when VGA data is actually read back from memory …

OK then. Blood in 1600x1200 kinda needs a high clocked Northwood (and fastvid and nolfb with a VGA that offers decent performance under the circumstances). I think any software rendering game where you can raise the resolution falls into this category, like Quake or the Build engine games: Duke Nukem 3D, Blood, Shadow Warrior, etc.

KT7A caps can go bad but I don't this they're worse than most boards from that age. Otherwise it's kind of an important one, a last bastion of ISA for the latest DOS stuff in high resolution. And it can definitely take Palomino XPs, so well that it detects them as Athlon XPs instead of 'Unknown …
