Re: Build retro gaming PC -OR- emulation?

Weird, for me Warcraft2 and the Decent series supported TCP/IP. (of course I used patches from the underground.) Those are about the only two I played back then. I have never even heard of blood. Today it's CSS. Addicting when you get a great server and good teams. BORING if the server is lame or …

Re: Build retro gaming PC -OR- emulation?

Not DOS though, but all the old Command & Conquer games are using IPX. C&C was a DOS game. I have the original games on CD. I'm not sure if they originally had MP though. The newer episodes were Windows based. C&C - DOS C&C Covert Operations - DOS C&C Red Alert - I think this one may have been DOS/ …

Re: No sound in Syndicate

I just got sound working in syndicate under DOSbox (standard version - not syndicate plus). Firstly, I edited synd.bat to change it from main.exe >nul: /iirq5 /idma1 /iio$220 /c0 to main.exe >nul: /iirq7 /idma1 /iio$220 /c0 i.e. so it matches the values specified in my dosbox.conf. Secondly, I had …

Re: Build retro gaming PC -OR- emulation?

While building an old machine to play the games as they were is fun, but can be very frustrating for all the reasons everyone has already posted. I have tons of old harware that I have collected over the years and I built 4 486 boxes complete with NICs and setup a classic gaming network running IPX/ …

Re: Use DosBox NOT Virtual PC

This is very true. I downloaded and tried Virtual PC 2007 (which is free now) and it sucks very badly. I'm running a 3.2ghz Pentium D EE with 2gb RAM system specifically custom built for gaming and it ran horribly bad. After uninstalling it I downloaded DOSbox and it runs superb.

Re: having problems loading the 7th guest

I keep all my games on a different partition then applications and the OS. Always have and always will. I am a programmer and often have a lot more software then most people. I did this it in the emulator just in case I decide to play around and setup software other than games. I have already been …

Re: having problems loading the 7th guest

Hmm... just tried the CTRL+F4 thing as well as remounting the drive adding "-usecd 0 -ioctl" and other variants and still a no go. Like I said this is the only game I have encountered this issue and it is very odd, especially since it is running the install program off the cd. Of course there is a …

Re: having problems loading the 7th guest

I'm having trouble installing the game also, except my issue is with the installation not recognizing that the CD is in the drive. I'm using DOSBox 0.70 and I have 2 hard drives mounted (C: and D:) and the CD ROM is E: I am using "mount e e:\ -t cdrom" to mount it. I have installed many games so far …

Re: Borland Compilers

I just compiled and ran a very old program I wrote using the TP7 with crt.tpu lib. Not sure if it is updated or not though. Been a long, long time since i have actually written software in it. The app ran fine though.
