Re: The Wrapper Collection Project

in PC Emulation
I'll give that one a try! Ok so I gave this one a try on my Win98SE box. I tested it out using Aureal's 3D Demos and Jedi Knight, all of which recognize an A3D card present. However, none of the effects are applied. DirectSound 3D sounds better, with A3D not being much different to Stereo. In Jedi …

Re: Post pics of your CRT monitors

Never thought of playing 3D games at 1600x1200 on my IBM, perhaps, it's time for me to try! Does your Iiyama have 2 thin horizontal lines at resolutions higher than 1024x768? My IBM tells me it's not a misfunction but a feature. You're going to need powerful hardware for that, depending on the game …

Re: Post pics of your CRT monitors

I've got an Iiyama Vision Master Pro 413 17" CRT. The cool thing is that it can do 1600x1200, which for desktop usage is awful, but it looks very impressive for 3D video games. For normal usage, I usually don't go over 1024x768, it becomes a bit painful to read at higher resolutions. Other than that …

Re: Retro Rig Photo Thread

Just picked up about 18 SGI machines from a collection. I now own 15 indys (going to sell some). One of the Indys is an R4400/200 with XZ video, which should be nice to try. Couple of the o2 are R10K too (only 175MHz though). I posted this over at OCAU as well :) http://cdn0.sbnation.com/fan_shot_ …

Re: List the PC games that you have beaten

in Milliways
Just finished F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin. It was decent enough but I think I prefer the first game more, that had a lean mechanic, longer length and scarier atmosphere. I have to agree with you on this one. FEAR 2 was boring. I loved the first game, mostly because the gunplay mechanics where …

Re: Ancient DOS Games Webshow

The last large manual I tried to read (in PDF form) was for the original X-COM. It kind of scared me off trying to even play the game until I watched some let's play videos (Kikoskia's mostly I think, which were fairly hilarious) and finally dove in. I've still never managed to beat it because of …

Re: PCI/AGP card combo?

in Windows
It can be incompatible with certain early games. Not something to truly worry about though. I'm guessing you're using a TFT monitor. 1280x1024 with V1 or V2 will look quite bad, at least to my eyes. Again, please tell us what system you're using right now, besides a GeForce 2.
