it's just a connector for a custom vram upgrade module, this card can address 4MB in total so the extra 2 are on a pcb that uses that connector

It already has a discrete OPl3 on it... you can remove it and disable it completely with some tinkering but what would be the point of having an "as much digital output card as possible" when you only keep the SB/WSS DAC? You might as well go a real SBPRO route and use and external ADC?

personally I got used to the retro theme , it only needs some minor tweaks that could be done over time... the used font that is mentioned in previous posts is a little weird because it's not in a straight line but I would imagine changing that would be something easy? glad you found the issue!!! well it might worth to install a NIC on your retropc and use mTCP's FTPserver to transfer files from modern-pc -> retro-pc certainly faster and less hassle than burning cds

This to me sounds just like a tube that has worked for many hours... I have seen the same in 1084 monitors that were left on on tv stations and similar environments. I'm afraid there is nothing to do other than a tube swap - which means better search for another monitor...
