I played them in the "correct order" but for me Quake is just better. Sure it's a brown game 🤣 but the overall experience is just better for me. Q2 was OK and from there it's downhill for my taste. Luckily the recent DOOM was nice.

A good stereo mixer is basically the only way to deal with this. I use this one: 1x Microphone input (useless) 3x Stereo inputs (SB - GUS - MIDI) this way you can fine-tune audio levels on the fly - something really really really handy 🤣

I know vga and ega are different, I was kind of hoping that 9pin connector was something more 🤣 kinda weird they didn't use a 15->9pin adapter and resorted to add a 2nd port but stranger things have happened... thanks for the info !

Good to know. I don't plan on using anything other than what games use - I assume it's the standard 640x350 max. The "good" thing is the the Olivetti 286 that was paired with the monitor also had an onboard PEGA2A 256kb ega card with the dip switches block next to it. I'll just put the same setting …

Yes it's easy, first check for continuity since it can be the case only the lacquer is scratched. They find the 2 points that trace connects together and use some kynar wire to re-connect them.

Tried both, both freeze This is really weird, I have 2 mobos with the HT12 Headland chipset and different ram installed. Every memtest program I tried just freezes the system , just like the chipset detection program that "The Last Byte" memory manager has. Other than that everything runs fine …

I have been looking for 2-3 years now for a spare lcd+shell for a 55mk2 mobo I have but nothing comes up - I really want a dead unit to fix mine, no point harvesting a working one 😀

we are doing it the MPU401AT way so bases are covered. There is also some volume jumpers so loud daughterboards like the XR385 don't clip - this idea was taken from dreamblaster's designs 😀

Hiya! I've spent quite some time trying to locate a DOS RAM test program that will work on a 286 and test XMS as well. Anyone knows a program like that other than CHECKIT ? There are plenty for 386+ machines , 286 is tricky 🤣 TIA for any info/help!
