nice, glad you solved it ... either way it does not affect operation - the GAL program will still run internally just fine even if the read protection is on

I bet you have the "Encrypt Ch" ticked - it's ON by default: that locks the GAL so it can't be read back, remove the tick on the option (bottom right part of the program) and you will see verification works now

Connecting directly to speakers is fine - connecting to the AUX or LINE IN of my Auzentech X-Fi is another matter , even with no pull-down resistor at all the volume is low. Maybe the card expects professional-level line-in or something... I don't remember having this issue when connecting a SB for …

yeah! and these are really fast cards and without the TSENG issues. But I am not sure they have a RAMDAC that supports more than 8bit color depth.
